SATMOS –  Service for Archiving and Processing Meteorological Observations from Space

Description

SATMOS mission is to archive and distribute meteorological  data and products from GEO or LEO operational  satellites to the scientific community.
SATMOS is a service resulting from the cooperation between METEO-FRANCE,  CNRS (French National Centre for Scientific  Research) and CNES (Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales).
The processed data come from the geostationnary satellites MSG, Meteosat, GOES, MTSAT and  the Low Earth Orbit satellites METOP and  NOAA.
SATMOS products are provided via a FTP server and a high rate link in various formats (netcdf, hdf, tarcyl…..)

CMS ( Satellite Meteorology Centre of Meteo-France), located at Lannion (Côtes d’Armor) is in charge of  the archiving.
